Air Cleaning And Humidifiers
Whole-house filtration and humidity control.
A clogged dryer vent makes every load take longer and lets lint collect where heat builds up. Cleaning the entire run and checking how it was installed keeps the dryer working the way it was designed to.
Clothes taking two cycles to dry or the laundry room getting hot? Call to schedule a dryer vent cleaning.

The rest settles along the inside of the duct, especially at bends, low spots and the exterior hood. As that layer grows, airflow drops, drying times stretch out and the dryer runs hotter than it should.
Fire safety agencies consistently identify failure to clean dryers and vents as a leading factor in home dryer fires. Lint is highly combustible, and a restricted vent traps heat around it. Cleaning the lint screen after every load is important, but it does not reach the lint that has already moved past it into the duct.
The lint screen catches what it can. The vent collects everything that gets past it.
Our cleaning covers the full length of the vent, not just the first few feet behind the dryer. We disconnect the transition duct, use rotary brushes and airflow tools suited to the duct size, and clear lint from the exterior hood. The dryer connection is then reattached securely so lint does not leak into the laundry room or wall cavity.
The inspection is as important as the cleaning. Many vents were installed with materials or routing that make clogging more likely. Plastic and thin foil transition ducts are not appropriate for dryer exhaust. Rigid or semi-rigid metal duct is the standard for most installations, with joints assembled in the direction of airflow and fastened in a way that does not leave screws protruding into the duct to catch lint. Maximum vent length depends on the dryer manufacturer instructions and the number of bends, so long runs deserve a closer look.
Exterior hoods cause their own problems. Screens over the opening trap lint and should not be used on dryer vents. Dampers can stick, nests can block openings, and hoods installed near the ground can be covered by snow or landscaping. We check that the damper opens freely when the dryer runs and closes when it stops.
Roof and long vertical vents are harder to maintain and often clog faster because lint has to travel upward. If routing changes would make the vent safer and easier to keep clean, we explain the options. For broader airflow and moisture concerns in the home, our Air Cleaning And Humidifiers page covers whole-house solutions.
Where the dryer sits matters too. Pushing a dryer tight against the wall can crush the transition duct behind it, cutting airflow even when the vent itself is clean. Recessed dryer vent boxes, periscope style connectors and careful positioning keep that connection open, and we point out when one of these would help in your laundry space.
We quote the cleaning at a flat rate before starting and tell you what we found, including any damaged sections or code concerns that need attention.

Reduced airflow is the most common symptom of a restricted vent.
Trapped heat around the dryer is a warning sign.
Lint collecting outside suggests buildup inside the duct.
Moist exhaust that is not venting properly can raise humidity.
Stop using the dryer and have the vent and dryer inspected.
A damper that does not open restricts exhaust airflow.
The visit covers cleaning, inspection and a clear report of what we found.
We move the dryer, disconnect the transition duct and inspect its condition.
Brushes and airflow tools remove lint from the vent duct to the exterior.
Lint and debris are removed, and the damper is checked to confirm it swings open and shuts properly.
Duct type, joints, length and bends are evaluated.
The dryer is reconnected securely and exhaust flow is checked at the hood.
We explain the condition of the vent and any recommended changes.
Most cleanings are straightforward, but vent design can change the scope.
| Vent length and bends | Longer, more complex runs take more time to clean thoroughly. |
|---|---|
| Vent termination | Roof and second story terminations require additional access. |
| Duct condition | Crushed, disconnected or improper ducts may need replacement. |
| Degree of buildup | Heavily clogged vents require more passes and cleanup. |
| Dryer access | Stacked units and tight closets can take longer to move safely. |
Many homes benefit from cleaning at least once a year. Large households, long vent runs and roof terminations may need more frequent attention.
Cleaning the lint screen after every load is important, but some lint still passes into the vent duct, where it accumulates over time.
Most dryer manufacturers call for rigid or semi-rigid metal duct. Plastic and thin foil transition ducts are not appropriate for dryer exhaust.
Restricted airflow makes the dryer run longer and hotter, which can wear heating components and trip safety devices.
No. Screens trap lint and can quickly block exhaust airflow. A proper dryer vent hood uses a damper instead.
We clean and inspect vents for both gas and electric dryers. Gas dryers also depend on proper venting to carry combustion products outdoors, which makes a clear vent especially important.
Our dryer needed two cycles for towels. They pulled a huge amount of lint from the vent and now one cycle does it.
The technician found a plastic transition duct behind the dryer and replaced it with metal. I had no idea that was a problem.
Call to schedule dryer vent cleaning. We will clean the complete run, inspect how the vent was installed and tell you exactly what we found.
